Choosing the Right Abaya Fabric for Pakistan’s Climate

A full-length abaya and Karachi weather do not always agree, which makes fabric one of the most practical decisions you can make when choosing a piece — arguably more than colour or cut.
Georgette, in its various weights, is a common choice across our range for good reason: it is lightweight and has a natural drape that moves with you rather than clinging in heat. A crinkle georgette adds texture and a slightly more relaxed, less structured fall than a smooth georgette.
Chiffon behaves similarly — light and flowing — with a softer, more fluid drape that suits printed or patterned designs particularly well, since the movement of the fabric shows the print off rather than flattening it.
Heavier fabrics and more structured weaves generally trade some breathability for a cleaner, more defined silhouette and a fabric that holds embroidery or beading better. They tend to suit air-conditioned settings, evening wear, or shorter periods of wear better than an all-day summer piece.
There is no single "best" fabric — it depends on how long you will be wearing the piece, where, and in what weather. For a long day out in the heat, lighter georgette or chiffon will almost always be more comfortable. For an evening event indoors, a heavier or more structured fabric can carry more detail and hold its shape better under lights.
